Seven Months - Overview
I've had those reflexive moments recently and tried to finalise my attitude to this incredible country. It's been seven months now and seven has always been considered a lucky number... Anyway, I'd be staying for two more so I'm still ready to modify my views.
Things that keep me sane in India:
- music (though I'd love to have ALL my CDs here)
- books, books, books...
- travelling
- chocolate
- ICQ
- my grandma's letters
- other trainees
- PIGS (Punjab International Gourmet Society) brunches
- concerts at Alliance Francaise
- my students
- alcohol (despite those terrible allergic reactions...)
- my bicycle
Things that keep me insane in India:
- harassers
- stares
- the way women are treated
- traffic (you do not pass your driving test here, you BUY it, that tells a lot)
- bargaining (we both know how much it costs so why do we have to waste so much time??)
- our landlady
- ants, mosquitos, cockroaches, flies
- Bollywood (sorry, I really don't like it but I tried, Chhavi)
- touts
- heat (though it's still bearable...) and pollution
It's been hard at times but often amazing, fabulous and great. In conclusion, I love it and hate it at the same time. Incredible India.
